NOV 27, Santa Train
Our longest-running annual event, the Santa Train, has been a long-standing family tradition for over three decades 40 years of family fun! These ever-popular trains begin Saturday, November 26th and continue each Saturday and Sunday through Sunday, December 18th. Two trains depart the Nelsonville Depot traveling round trip to East Logan and back each Saturday and Sunday during that time at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. We will also have an evening departure time of 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 26th; December 3rd; 10th; and 17th. Friday evening trains on December 2nd; 9th and 16th. Each train features the same theme Santa gets on board the train and visits with each child as the train traverses the historic (and with any luck, snow-covered) Hocking River Valley. Each coach is decorated and heated, Christmas music plays throughout the train over the audio system, and after Santa’s visit, each child receives a special candy cane treat! Make sure your child or grandchild brings his or her Christmas wishlist to share with Santa! The most popular of all the Hocking areas is Old Man's Cave, located on State Route 664. Here at the Upper Falls, the Grandma Gatewood Trail begins its six-mile course connecting three of the park's areas.

On the Hocking River several liveries offer varying length canoe, kayak, and raft trips on the usually leasurely moving waters. A great way to spend a hot summer days. With 9 State Park and Nature Preserves, 3 State Forests, a National Forest, and local and metro parks, plus a large section of the Buckeye Trail, you simply will not run out of places to hike. Trails range from extremely rugged to as easy as the preverbial 'walk in the park'. Portions of the trails at Cedar Falls and Conkle's Hollow are marked wheelchair accessible.
