Civil War Symposium-Sherman:Fact or Fiction?

The Symposium will begin Fri night with An Evening of Civil War-Era Music at the Georgian Museum, 105 E. Wheeling St. The Mazson & Hamlin concert grand piano will accompany a male quartet, the Hilltop Singers. Former Students of the piano donor, Alice Kindler, will play favorites from the period. In addition, the Gentleman Gypsies, will present music from the era. 10am on Sat morning. General William T. Sherman: Fact and Fiction. Commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War in Sherman's Hometown! Featured Speakers: Richard McMurry- Speaker, humorist, and author of many books including Atlanta 1864: The Last Chance for the Confederacy. Edward Caudill- Speaker, reporter, and author of many books including Sherman's March in Myth and Memory. E. Chris Evans- Civil War scholar, speaker, and historian who has written many feature articles for Civil War magazines. Donna Lawrence- Retired teacher whose special interests are women in the Civil War, the Sherman family, and U.S. presidents. Bill Comisford- "Sgt. William Davis, 10th OVC, and His Ride with Sherman to the Sea". David Fey- "Thoughts on Why We Study History". Ticket includes meals, book signings, several museum tours, venders, cash bar and social time.
