Lazy Oaks Cabin, very peaceful stay
This was our first trip to Lazy Oaks, but we're frequent visitor to the Hocking Hills region. My wife I like to have seclusion, away from the park but near enough that if we want to go it isn't an issue which this cabin fit the bill.
The good
The cabin was clean very comfortable. There was only the 2 of us so we only used the main floor. We did go downstairs to see what was there.
-The back deck is very spacious private. You can barely see the other cabin, however that may be different in the winter months with no foliage.
-Fully stocked kitchen with everything we needed.
-The fire pit is close, but not too close. Rather than cooking on the grill on the deck, I chose to cook from the fire pit plenty of fuel laying around so didn't have to buy charcoal/lighter fluid. We have a tripod grill top that I can place over a camp fires that does the trick.
- There is wifi Internet in the cabin if you wish to be connected. The router is in the downstairs utility room based upon my wifi signal strength app, so the strength of the signal will vary with your devices. We could not get a connection out on the deck. I had to put my cell phone in the cabin and my bluetooth speaker out on the deck for my listening enjoyment.
The not so good, but not really bad
- The 'driveway' to reach the cabin is shared by a couple farm residence, perhaps. The Lazy Oak cabin is fairly close to that driveway and there were a couple vehicles buzzing by. A slight inconvenience for me but maybe not for another visitor.
- As mentioned previously in the good, the wifi connection is non-existent out on the deck. The ideal solution for this is to have a repeater, or extender, somewhere on the main floor and I think it would resolve the issue. I know some people don't want to be bothered by connectivity, myself included, however I do rely on technology to access my music indulgence.
- Cell service is spotty at best, which they forewarn you. I did not mind being 'off-grid' but some may
