Ok but could use improvements
When we booked the caboose months ago, we were very excited. The grounds are clean and well kept, the deck is nice and we liked the fire pit. The interior was neat and functional, it looked very cool. By the time we stayed in the caboose, I was four months pregnant and climbing up to the top two bunks wasnt practical, nor was it practical for a toddler. We encountered many large carpenter ants every day we were there, we lost track of how many we killed. The first night, my boyfriend slept in the middle lower bunk and was woken up by carpenter ants crawling on him twice. We contacted the owners and they were very nice about trying to fix the problem, there was bug spray applied near the door and traps put down but it didnt do anything to help the issue. There were just as many later in the evening and the following night. The third day it rained all day, when we came back in the evening, there was a big puddle on the floor in the middle of the caboose. It rained all night and we had to clean up and dodge the puddle all night. I would prefer curtains in all the windows and a functional bathroom fan that sounds normal. I love the look of the caboose but I would prefer the comfort of a soft hotel bed, no bugs and no puddles to clean for the the same price range.
Owner's reply: Hi! Thank you for your feedback. As we discussed during your stay, I didn't want to send an exterminator in to spray while folks were in the caboose. We do have them out regularly, but on your report, we scheduled an extra trip and had them come through the day you checked out and will keep tabs on the issue. I was unaware of the roof issue - my apologies you had to navigate around that. We're going to have someone look at it right away! I hope you enjoyed the Hocking Hills during your stay and we see you in the area again soon!
