Great experience! Highly recommend!
We had so much fun staying at the caboose for the weekend! My kids thought it was awesome to stay in a train car, they loved the loft beds and it's a great location-close enough to the attractions nearby. It was just like cabin camping but with a unique twist. We also loved roasting hot dogs and s'mores at the fire pit!

One of the most unique places to stay.
Loved how cozy the caboose was. Fun place to stay. Quiet location as well. Very close to the John Glenn Astronomy Park to enjoy the dark, starry skies. Enjoyed the local coffee shops, general store and recreational parks that are close by.

Beautifully cared for clearing in woods was the perfect setting for the Caboose.
Truly peaceful getaway in a vintage Caboose. The character and authentic vibe provides for privacy and a delightful new experience. It is just FUN. Inside charm shuts the door on life's stress and says I'm on Vacation! In a Caboose! The property provides an attached deck and campfire area for conversation and outdoor gathering. Feels safe...

Nice place to stay while visiting Hocking HIlls!
We rented the caboose for 4 adults to go hiking in Hocking Hills. It is a tight fit for 4 adults though. The caboose is decorated in the railroad theme with train curtains and signs. We had a great time and the caboose was clean and had everything we needed. My only suggestion would be if possible add a sliding door or something to divide sleeping area from kitchen area. We had a great time and the caboose was clean and had everything we needed. My only suggestion would be if possible add a sliding door or something to divide sleeping area from kitchen area. Also when we first booked I mentioned we were coming for my sons birthday and was told there would be a little sign welcoming him and saying happy birthday....

Family Trip to Hocking Hills
My family and I 2 adults, 2 kids under 4 had a great time staying in the caboose! Great Outdoor Time!
We had a great time at the Caboose! Our family of 4 - kids ages 3 5 - had a wonderful time during our short weekend stay. It was a great way to get more connected to nature. And it was a plus to not be away from WiFi and other distractions. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds and were sad when it was time to go home.

A unique place to stay!
What a clever, great idea and unique place to stay! Reserving with the owner directly, the service was prompt, helpful and courteous. The location was private, yet not too far off a main road and close to Ash Cave. Cellular service was not obtainable here, as with much of the area. A large deck overlooked beautiful wooded grounds and a firepit was...

Fun camping.
We had a great time. Was close enough to get hiking in plus experience Logan's winery and brewery! The firepit and deck really added to the outdoor time. Maybe a radio for music next time. The only real negative was the electric on the counter was not working, but we had an extension cord so all was good. I would recommend it any train enthusiast...

Very unique fun
Very nice place to stay - my kids loved it. The caboose is nicely decorated with a train theme and it is easy to find. The only thing that could be improved is having wi-fi since cellular signal is difficult but the owners are working on that. The owners were very helpful with providing information and the entire stay was great!

Our family of four enjoyed our stay in the caboose. A neat little place that met our needs well.
Nice place to stay while visiting Hocking HIlls!
We rented the caboose for 4 adults to go hiking in Hocking Hills. It is a tight fit for 4 adults though. The caboose is decorated in the railroad theme with train curtains and signs. It is located in a a nice setting of woods all around. We did see an occasional deer and a few turkey while there. The deck has a grill which we used due to there not being a stove inside and cooked over a fire in the fire pit which was fun to do. Nice place to come back to after a long day of hiking!

Very unique and fun!
Thanks for the opportunity- everything was very fun- the beds and linens were clean and so were the rooms. We had everything we needed. I think there needs to be some time spent cleaning surfaces that people touch a lot, such as door knobs, window frames, and the bunk bed ladders- they were black and gross. The windows on the outside need a good spring cleaning as well as there is a lot of moss and crud built up on them.

Awesome place!
Loved it! Our son is a huge train lover so it was right up his ally. The only thing we missed was an oven or at least a cook top which was our fault for not checking that out beforehand and although we didn't miss the Internet our 4 year old would have loved to be able to watch his iPad. We drove into Logan and grabbed an electric burner so it was no big deal and a couple days without the iPad never hurt anyone. The caboose was very clean and well taken care of. We wil recommened to our friends

PERFECT!!!
The train was a huge hit with our kids- 2 four year olds, 1 eleven year old. Perfectly secluded so that the kids were free to make as much noise as they wanted, but not so secluded that it was too long a car ride to any of the trails. Great kitchen setup, which came in handy when it rained one night of our trip and we were forced to eat dinner inside. I was pleasantly surprised at how much was provided for us. Dishes, grilling tools, coffee pot, towels, cleaning supplies, board games, etc. Made

Great Stay!
Our family of four enjoyed our stay in the caboose. A neat little place that met our needs well. Ample space outside to enjoy - a nice deck with a grill and table for eating supper, and a fire pit as well. Setting was beautiful. Pros: Location VERY Clean & more than enough space Unique Reasonable price Phone- free long distance (you'll need it- our cell phones did not have service at all) Toaster, coffee pot, etc. provided along with napkins and other basic items Eco-friendly lights/thermostat Cons: It would be nice if there were sensor lights on the deck/near the cars. Great place with kids!
The Caboose was such a unique experience. It was very clean, felt homey and the bathroom was surprisingly large. My 3 and 6 year old boys were obsessed with the bunk beds and the overall fact that we were in a caboose, of course. The weather wasn't great for our weekend in March, but the kids didn't care as long as they were in the caboose. The deck with grill/table/chairs and fire pit area was great. There were actually 9 chairs outside so we didn't need the chairs we brought. The owner was really easy to work with and provided all the info we needed to be prepared. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking/eating/drinking supplies but no cook top which we knew and were prepared for. It's a great location, close to Ash Cave which is a perfect hike for little kids... short and no steep drop offs or slippery rocks again with the rain. One concern was that it was close to the street so we could see and hear the few cars and trucks that went by while sitting by the fire. Not close enough that kids would run out there, but it took away from feeling like you're in the middle of the woods, if that's what you're looking for. It wasn't a huge deal but something we noticed. Also if you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs because when the heater kicks on it is very loud. It didn't wake up the kids though. Overall a very cool place and highly recommended for a family get away! My 3 year old never likes to stay away from home, but this time he whined that he wanted to go back to the caboose! They will always remember this vacation! Thanks Brian and Chris!

Owner's reply: Elise, thanks for your comments. We do clean and sanitize everything. Unfortunately the unstained wood does pick up coloring that isnt removed even with a good cleaning and sanitizing. Glad that you had fun!!

Nice Getaway
The caboose made for a very cozy getaway from suburbia. The weather didn't cooperate as it rained for the duration off our stay, but that wasn't all bad... Had a chance to catch up on some reading and time to catch up with my spouse. The caboose offered just about everything you could want in a cabin and it was great to hear the raindrops fall on the metal roof!

The caboose was such a relaxing and fun way to spend some quality family time. It was also close to all of the hiking trails. We are all 5'7 and under so we had no problems. Be aware for poison ivy as the caboose is in the woods. It's to be expected but was also growing close to the steps. Improvements The shower head would not point down on the person in the shower. It would only point to the wall. Spray for poison ivy around the caboose.

Owner's reply: Thanks for the great feedback. Sorry the poison ivy got out of hand. We'll get right on it! Thanks!

Visit for sons birthday
We had a great time and the caboose was clean and had everything we needed. My only suggestion would be if possible add a sliding door or something to divide sleeping area from kitchen area. Also when we first booked I mentioned we were coming for my sons birthday and was told there would be a little sign welcoming him and saying happy birthday. There wasnt. Not a huge deal just would have been nice. We hope to stay again sometime.

Owner's reply: Jennifer, our most sincere apologies, we had a gift and card for your son that didn't get put out. Hopefully its not too little too late, but we'll be dropping something in the mail to him soon.

Family Trip to Hocking Hills
My family and I 2 adults, 2 kids under 4 had a great time staying in the caboose! We surprised our two boys with a quick family get away, and they were elated when they saw the train and found out we were sleeping in it! The caboose was clean, inviting, and comfortable. We could have used a bigger fridge since we ate most of our meals there the grill was excellent for this, but it did provide just enough space for the items we brought. We were pleasantly surprised by the fire pit, as we hadn't seen pictures of it before our arrival. It was a great spot to spend our evenings roasting marshmallows and winding down from the day spent hiking. Thanks for having us!

Owner's reply: It was great to have you and we're glad you loved the fire pit - we love it too! Nothing beats the surprise part! Glad everyone enjoyed the trip!!

Perfect Getaway
My husband and I recently stayed at the Caboose and had a wonderful time. We were like two kids trying to get in the top bunks when we first arrived. We loved the privacy, available space, and scenery. We spent most of our time on the deck or at the fire pit at night, but the inside of the Caboose had plenty of room. We ate breakfast at the bench inside the Caboose every morning, placed our leftovers in the fridge, and cleaned up in the spacious bathroom. Setting our phones aside for a week was the best thing we could have asked for, too. We will be back. Thank you.

Hocking Caboose
We booked the caboose during the last week in March, so it was rainy and chilly. The caboose was very warm and we could control the temperature. The caboose is furnished with a small refrigerator and a microwave and all the dishes you would need. The cabin also has a nice deck with a new gas grill that can be used. There is also a fire pit and a sitting area outside of the cabin. There is no TV, WiFi or phone service so be sure to bring a book to read, although the caboose was furnished with games and puzzle. We really enjoyed our stay, we went hiking during the day, dinner in the town of Logan and then relaxed in the quiet, unplugged coziness of the caboose. The caboose was very clean and I would recommend it to others.

Owner's reply: Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you at the Caboose again soon!

Really enjoyed the stay
My wife and I went the week before Thanksgiving and it turned cold. We didn't use the firewood we picked up but we were toasty warm at the Caboose. I've been letting everyone I know about it. It is situated very close to many of the caves in the Hocking Hills area. Easy 20 minute drive to Logan, Rockbridge, Laurelville and Nelsonville. We are already talking about our next trip.

Our stay at the Hocking Hills Caboose
The caboose is charming in a beautiful setting. It is well maintained and the beds were comfortable ! I took camping chairs for a bonfire (which we did not have time to have) but was happy to see there were chairs provided at the firepit. Ok but could use improvements
When we booked the caboose months ago, we were very excited. The grounds are clean and well kept, the deck is nice and we liked the fire pit. The interior was neat and functional, it looked very cool. By the time we stayed in the caboose, I was four months pregnant and climbing up to the top two bunks wasnt practical, nor was it practical for a toddler. We encountered many large carpenter ants every day we were there, we lost track of how many we killed. The first night, my boyfriend slept in the middle lower bunk and was woken up by carpenter ants crawling on him twice. We contacted the owners and they were very nice about trying to fix the problem, there was bug spray applied near the door and traps put down but it didnt do anything to help the issue. There were just as many later in the evening and the following night. The third day it rained all day, when we came back in the evening, there was a big puddle on the floor in the middle of the caboose. It rained all night and we had to clean up and dodge the puddle all night. I would prefer curtains in all the windows and a functional bathroom fan that sounds normal. I love the look of the caboose but I would prefer the comfort of a soft hotel bed, no bugs and no puddles to clean for the the same price range.

Owner's reply: Hi! Thank you for your feedback. As we discussed during your stay, I didn't want to send an exterminator in to spray while folks were in the caboose. We do have them out regularly, but on your report, we scheduled an extra trip and had them come through the day you checked out and will keep tabs on the issue. I was unaware of the roof issue - my apologies you had to navigate around that. We're going to have someone look at it right away! I hope you enjoyed the Hocking Hills during your stay and we see you in the area again soon!

Caboose was Awesome!
Our stay at the Caboose was truly amazing. We surprised our 6-year-old son with the caboose during a recent roadtrip from IN to NC. He was overjoyed as we pulled up and told him that was our "cabin" for the next two nights. He explored every inch of the caboose within our first 30 minutes there. It fit all of our needs as well. Everything we needed was on hand and it was very clean in and out. We grilled out on the deck for dinner and enjoyed some time at the firepit too. The location was great, not too far of a drive to any of the major cave attractions. And the fact there was no cell service was perfect, back to just family time and relaxing. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone with younger kids and/or train enthusiasts.

Owner's reply: We're thrilled you all had a great time - what a fun surprise for a kid of any age (or kid at heart)! Hope to see you all again soon!

Hocking Hills Caboose
The Hocking Hills Caboose was a unique experience for my family. Nestled right off St Rte 56, the caboose is very private but being so close to the highway, our Pittsburgh neighborhood is more peaceful. There wasn't much wildlife life around but we did see some coyotes on our 2nd night around 9:30pm and recorded them calling into the night. The inside of the caboose is nicely done. The kitchen has a microwave, dorm size refrigerator, coffee maker and all the glassware, flatware and dishes you would need. There are 5 twin sized beds with linens, blankets and pillows. The bathroom was on the opposite side of caboose and had a stand up shower stall. There is beautiful deck on the back of the caboose with a table and chairs overlooking the firepit below. I highly recommend this place for someone who has lots of things to do while in the area and just needs a nice place to unwind and relax in the evening. The air-conditioning worked wonderful!! We ate most of our meals just over the hill at Grandma Faye's - it is a great little general store. Enjoy!!!

Owner's reply: Sheri, we're glad your family had a great stay and agree - Grandma Faye's is the best! Hope we get to see you all again soon!

Hocking Hills trip
This was our second time staying at the caboose and again we were not disappointed. The new grill and burn pit area was a nice surprise. Because we had 4 people this time vs 2 last time I was a little concerned with it getting to hot to sleep on the top bunk. I found that if you open the top window for an hour in the early evening it cools it off nicely. Kitchen is very well stocked with about anything you need and the beds are very comfortable. Only problem we ran into was not having a can opener for the one can of fruit we brought. Great time and a great place to stay.

Owner's reply: Debra, it was great to have your family back and we're glad you enjoyed the new grill and fire pit! We'll do a quick check of the kitchen supplies right away... there used to be a can opener, sorry we didn't catch that it was missing. Thanks again for joining us & we hope to see you and your family again soon! Brian

We wil recommened to our friends for sure!

Owner's reply: Tiffany, glad you enjoyed you're stay! We hope to see you and your friends soon!

Early Spring Stay
It was a great getaway for me and my friends. We were able to enjoy the state park caves, stay in and play games, sleep peacefully, enjoy the fire pit and eat a lot of good food. It was a much needed relaxing weekend. The caboose was very clean, bug free and private.

Will Definately be back!
The caboose was such a fun place to stay! Very clean and cute decor. Two teenage daughters lived the upper bunks. Great to come back to after hiking beautiful Hocking Hills. Easy to find and Nice hot shower. Definately will stay here again. Thinking of maybe giving a weekend stay to others for a Christmas gift.

Owner's reply: Polinski Family, We're very glad you enjoyed your stay at the caboose and Hocking Hills! We do offer Gift Certificates and think it's a great Christmas gift. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] for more information. We hope to see you again soon!

Will be back soon!
Stayed here for a girls' weekend with my mom and we had a blast. Beautiful location, situated in the middle of Hocking Hills. It gets REALLY dark out there! Would like to see curtains in the kitchen windows. The outlet in the kitchen near the microwave did not work. Overall, it was an amazing getaway and I would HIGHLY recommend a trip here. We will definitely be back and can't wait for our visit!

Caboose stay
We stayed at the caboose the second weekend in October. And it was amazing. My four year old son loved staying in the caboose. He also enjoyed all the fun nature walks and hikes we took in the parks. I would stay there again. It was truly magnificent.

Father & Son trip to Hocking Hills
My son and I visited the Hocking Hills area to do some hiking. We stayed in the Hocking Hllls caboose and really enjoyed our stay there. The caboose was very clean and nicely appointed. We couldn't have asked for more and will definitely stay again if in the area. I have to mention that all the Hocking Hills hiking trails are fantastic and well kept. We hiked about 22 miles total and hit about all the main spots-beautiful parks!

Owner's reply: Mark, so glad you enjoyed the caboose and Hocking Hills - we love the area too and are glad you guys were able to get out and see so much. Kudos on your 22 miles!

So fun!
We had a great stay at the caboose! The kids had so much fun hanging out in the top bunks, turning the wheel at the back of the caboose, and making friends with bugs outside (there was a stick bug on the deck this morning and they found a few cicada shells, too). The caboose had everything we needed (aside from food, which we picked up in Chillicothe on the way in), so it was easy to prepare for our trip. It's also in a great location for visiting the caves! 5/5 would rent again

Owner's reply: So glad you all had a great time! Looking forward to having you back at the caboose again soon!

My stay at the caboose
It was a nice stay felt very homely the area was good and very peaceful. We will in the future plan another stay there. There were a few minor things we noticed and that included the lid to the grill was loose, there were spots on the sheets, towels and pillow cases. It was nice that there was a puzzle and a few games to play to keep busy.

Owner's reply: Glad you guys had a good stay. We'll take a look at the grill right away - thank you for bringing that to our attention. All of our linens are new this year and in response to your comments weve done a 100% inspection of them to make sure they are in excellent condition - we take great pride in our cleanliness and appreciate you calling this to our attention. We look forward to having you back at the caboose soon!

Would definitely recommend!
We had a blast! The caboose was so fun and totally accommodating! It was clean, functional, quiet and we loved the back deck! We were really looking for a unique place where we could take our kids to "unplug" and spend some quality time together! The caboose certainly delivered! All of your hard work in fixing this place up has really paid off and we made some very fun, lasting memories! Thank you Brian and Chris!

Owner's reply: Thank you guys! It was great to meet you - hope to have you back again soon!

Cute Place
The owners were very helpful and knowledgeable. The only downside to our stay was the lack of curtains. The moonlight light up our cabin quite brightly, and we were unable to sleep. We'd suggest some sort of window coverings, but otherwise would recommend the Caboose.

Owner's reply: We've added some curtains this weekend. Thanks for the feedback! Hope to see you in Hocking Hills again soon!

Hocking Hills Weekend

Hocking Hills Weekend
Had a great time at the caboose. I read previous reviews and also checked out their facebook page so I felt pretty confident of what to expect. Not a lot of room to store things so pack carefully. There are three large drawers under one of the beds that works good. There was only 3 of us so we used the upper bunks to store our luggage. The kitchen is stocked very well with dishes, silverware, etc. The deck is awesome and has a nice table for 5 to sit at. The grill was just ok. Nice firepit in the back below the deck. It was warm out but we still bought a small pack of wood for a fire each night. There is also a picnic table by the pit (needed to be cleaned). Does not have a TV, internet or cell phone service but we knew that going in and actually enjoyed the peace and quiet. There is a however a phone in the caboose for your use if needed. There were towels to dry our dishes however was missing a washcloth to wash them. Would of liked to have a clock on the wall, maybe above the sink. Was only a short distance to Ash Cave. Overall we were very pleased and will stay at the caboose again in the future.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your feedback! I'm getting a clock today - great idea. Glad you had a good stay and hope to see you again in Hocking Hills very soon!
