Located in northern Hocking County at the edge of the Hocking Hills Region, Boch Hollow provides an excellent opportunity to see a wide diversity of habitats ranging from riparian corridors, mature wooded hills, ridges, and old field remnants. The most notable botanical feature at Boch Hollow is the extensive population of the Federally Endangered Running Buffalo Clover – the largest such population in Ohio.

Unique among Ohios preserves is the mission of Boch Hollow to serve as an educational site for hands-on environmental education of Appalachian Ohio ecology. Primarily geared toward local school children, the staff also provides programs to the general public as well as various civic and environmental organizations.

Backyard Birds Indoor Program

You are invited to Join preserve staff for an indoor program that is all about birds. We will have a brief discussion on birding basics as well as feeding, while we keep an eye on the bird feeders right outside our windows. We will also have fun birding activities such as bird bingo and birding Olympics. Children are welcome.Registration is required by Feb 13th, please call. Limit of 15 participants.

Winter Tree ID Workshop

You are invited to attend a winter tree identification workshop at Boch Hollow State Nature Preserve. The program will focus on bark and buds for identification in the winter condition. The trail is strenuous, traversing many valleys and ridges. Please dress appropriately for the weather.

We will meet at the Boch Hollow State Nature Preserve office. Registration is required by February 13th, please call. Limit of 20 participants.
