7:30 pm. "Charles Darwin: The Secret Life of a Reluctant Revolutionary". David Quammen is a freelance journalist and author who travels widely on assignment, usually to jungles, deserts, and swamps. A National Geographic contributor, he wrote the "Megatransect" series, covering ecologist Mike Fay's epic walk across Africa, and the award-winning feature, "Was Darwin Wrong?". His work has appeared in Harper's, National Geographic, The Atlantic, National Geographic Adventure, Outside, The New York Times Book Review, and in the Best American Science Writing 2005 along with several other such collections. His books include novels, essay-compilations and nonfiction, notably The Song of the Dodo and The Reluctant Mr. Darwin. He's also general editor of On the Origin of Species: The Illustrated Edition, a decorative reissue of Charles Darwin's great work. Quammen has received an American Academy of Arts and Letters award, among others, and holds the Wallace Stegner chair of Western American Studies at Montana State University. Others claim that Bela has virtually reinvented the image and the sound of the banjo through a remarkable performing and recording career that has taken him all over the musical map and on a range of solo projects and collaborations. If you are familiar with Bela, you know that he just loves to play the banjo, and put it into unique settings. In his most ambitious project to date, renowned musician Bela Fleck explores the origins of the banjo. Fleck discovered in his travels in Africa that, while the banjo is traditionally considered an American instrument, its origins lie far from her shores. In The Africa Project, Fleck brings to the stage his collaborations with some of Africa's most talented musicians.

These weavings reflect sandpainting designs used in six traditional ceremonial healing practices: Beautyway, Waterway, Bead Chant, Great Star Chant, Hailway, and Coyoteway. It is, by all accounts, the largest single collection of sandpainting textiles in existence.

11:30 am - 3:30 pm. Winter Safari Tours for you and your family to enjoy. The Winter Safari Tour begins with a light lunch prepared by the Wilds' professional chef at the Overlook Cafe. During lunch, enjoy a short conservation program presented by an experienced program staff member. After lunch, board a heated Safari Transport for a guided safari tour experience through the winter landscape. View large groups of animals in their beautiful winter coats, such as the Sichuan takin, Pere David's deer, Przewalski's wild horse, American bison, and many more, as they roam in the open pasture. The tour also includes an exclusive stop at the Rhino Management Center where you can get up-close and personal with southern white rhinos and greater one-horned Asian rhinos in their winter quarters. Other destinations may include the Mid-Sized Carnivore Conservation Center or the Giraffe Barn. Reservations must be made by 4 pm the Friday before the program. Thai Yoga Massage Level 1: Five Days: Monday through Thursday from 9 am - 4:30 pm and Friday 9 am - 1 pm. In the Level 1 class, you will learn a 90 minute Thai Yoga Massage sequence. The 30 hours of class instruction is the first step towards certification, which is earned after completion of a Level 2 Thai-Yoga course. You will: incorporate the fundamentals of effortless, flowing transitions between postures, maintain proper body alignment & stances that create a mutually beneficial massage for practitioner and recipient, discuss the history and philosophy of Thai Yoga Massage, apply safety precautions for preventing injury and avoiding contraindications, and integrate metta (loving kindness) and meditation into your bodywork. The Instructor is Anthony R. Conard M.A. (Dharmadas) a former resident of Kripalu Center and a certified teacher of Lotus Palm Thai Yoga Massage. He has studied with Master Kam Thye Chow extensively. Anthony is a Kripalu Yoga Instructor. He has been practicing yoga for 23 years and was initiated by Kripalu's founder Yogi Amrit Desai in 1986. Participants can opt to come to the Inn daily for class, instruction and lunch or, choose to stay at the Inn with a fabulous package that includes, instruction, room, 2 dinners (on the 1st and last night), and lunch daily.
