Hocking Hills Weekend Retreats
Restore your soul hiking in the Hocking hills. Come
experience earth centered activities with laughter for the
soul & good food for the body. Weather permitting – a ½ day
kayaking trip is optional. Weekend in our cabin renews you
to your whole person. Arrive anytime after 4PM on Friday.

EARTH DAY by KAYAK:
April 22nd
Celebrate Planet Earth from view of the kayak. Search for
creatures, birds, and buds just coming to life after a quiet
winter rest. Experience a day on 1 - 3 lakes of SE Ohio:
Paddle the full day or select which lakes you would like to
paddle. Sunrise on Lake Snowden, Afternoon light on Lake
Hope and Sunset on Stroud’s.
MOTHER’S DAY PADDLE DOWN THE HOCKING RIVER - May 11th
Paddle a full day down this historical river, where Native
Americans traveled many moons ago. See Great Blue Heron as
they fly ahead to guide our way. Lunch on a sandbar.
PADDLE ON RACCOON CREEK - May 24th
A unique experience to paddle a day down a smaller winding
creek. A great place to see beaver and other wildlife! We
will stop to enjoy lunch. Raccoon Creek runs just west of
Athens.
SUNRISE ON STROUDS A SPRING MORNING IN THE MIST - May
25th
A golden glow appears as sun breaks gently through. Hear the
quiet, feel the air, and paddle into a new day. Instruction
followed by a 2 hour paddle.
SUMMER SOLSTICE PADDLE ON STROUD’S - June 21st
Paddle past the sunset into the evening of the longest
light. A summer event! Enjoy watermelon and witness the
night slowly appear and the day fade away. Paddle until the
last gleam of light disappears. Campfire on shore to finish
the night. Meet at beach landing at 6PM. 3 Hour Paddle
APPALACHIAN ADVENTURE WOMEN’S OUTDOOR WEEKEND - August
29- Sept. 1st
Come to Burr Oak and enjoy Labor Day Weekend in nature.
Classes will include yoga, maps and GPS, Native American
ways, birding, basics of backpacking, kayaking, nature
photography, naturalist led hike, and others. Lodging at the
park is in cabins with a full kitchen. Musicians from the
mountains of NC will play Celtic Appalachian Music. Sunset
and Sunrise kayaking each day. Call for Brochure
Western North Carolina Mountain Hiking and Lake Kayaking
- September 10-14
Arrive on Wednesday by 4PM and enjoy a short hike before
dinner. 2 days of hiking and one day of kayaking on a high
mountain lake. Mountain Lodging. We’ll see waterfalls in the
Highlands / Cashiers area. (4 nights of lodging, 11 meals)
Bears Den Hiking on the Appalachian Trail - October 31st
– November 3rd
Day Hike 2 days on the A.T. Lodging in stone castle
hostel on the Appalachian Trail. Relax in the evenings and
watch the sunset over the Shenendoah Valley. Visit the
National Historic Town of Harpers Ferry for ½ day on the way
home. Shop in the A.T. Headquarters and enjoy lunch.
(8 meals, 3 nights lodging)
Winter Solstice Wildlife Party at Mimi’s - December 21st
Noon: Potluck lunch. Hike 1-2 hours, fire with hot
chocolate after hike.
Please bring warm hiking boots and 25 lbs of shelled corn or
birdseed.
