Overview
The Dairy Barn Arts Center’s mission is to offer exhibitions, events, and educational programs that nurture and promote area artists and artisans; develop art appreciation among all ages; provide the community access to fine arts and crafts from outside the region; and draw attention and visitors to Southeast Ohio. The twelve-month program calendar includes international juried exhibitions, festivals, touring exhibits, programs of regional interest, live performances, and activities for all ages. Some events are produced entirely by The Dairy Barn Arts Center while others are the result of cooperation with regional education, arts, or community organizations. Exhibits such as OH+5: A Biennial Ohio Border Exhibition and Athens Voices, A Biennial Exhibition featuring artists that live or work within 30 miles of Athens and feature outstanding regionally produced artwork in a variety of media. The Dairy Barn Arts Center has also developed an international reputation for excellence with Quilt National, a biennial exhibition that has attracted more than 100,000 visitors to Athens from around the world since its premiere in 1979.

Modern Quilts – Designs of the New Century.

Modern quilts mean different things to different people. Experience the power of modern quilts firsthand in this exhibit of innovative and inspiring quilts that represent the best modern quilts and quilters of the past decade. In this exhibit, you will see the work of modern quilters, past and present, and learn the story of modern quilting from its earliest roots and influences to today. This exhibition was organized and presented by Modern Quilt Guild.

Modern Inspirations – Art quilts from 1970s through today.

This exhibition documents the rich history of the art quilt movement as it relates to the development of this new quilt aesthetic. This exhibition of 30 iconic historic and contemporary quilts by master artists from around the world is a feast for the eyes, filled with gorgeous art. This engaging chronological presentation demonstrates the development and continuing power of the art quilt movement. This exhibition is presented by the Studio Art Quilt Associates.

New Years Eve Gala

The Dairy Barn Arts Center is located in the beautiful Appalachian foothills. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since its inception in 1978, the Barn has evolved into a first class arts center with 10,000 square feet of exhibition and classroom space. The Barn supports and encourages the work of artists and community participation in the arts. Their twelve month calendar includes international juried exhibitions, touring exhibits, festivals, programs of regional interest, live performances, and activities for all ages.
