Apr 23, Apr 24, 2010 The Path of the Heart is this year's theme. On Friday, a program of poetry with musical accompaniment will begin at 730 P.M. at the Izaac Walton League Lodge on Lake Logan. Piano and vocal music will be performed by Evie Adelman, David Darling, Laszlo Slomovits, Norman Cohn and Kathy Heim.On Saturday, a workshop will be held at Izaak Walton League Lodge, from 10 A.M. until noon. New poetry with musical accompaniment at 730 P.M featuring David Darling, Evie Adelman, Laszlo Slomovits, Tina Stewart, Norman Cohn, and Kathy Heim. Music will begin at 7 at the the Izaac Walton League Lodge on Lake Logan. We are extremely excited to present Coleman Barks the renowned translator of Rumi's poetry. He is a retired professor and excellent poet in his own right. Coleman has traveled the world spreading the beauty and possibility of the poetic word., Lisa Starr Lisa Starr is the Poet Laureate of Rhode Island, a mother, an innkeeper, and organizer of writing workshops. Her poetry is from the heart and guts, using simple direct words to reach the depths of human experience. Lisa is the founder and director of the Block Island Poetry Project, a nationally acclaimed writing series., and David Darling a cellist like no other. His improvisational synergistic work accompanying poets and authors raises their combined performance to a new level. David is also a composer and inspirational advocate of making music accessible to everyone., with Laszlo Slomovits and his twin brother, San, Laz makes up Gemini, a versatile and acclaimed musical duo. Hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Laz brilliantly puts music to poetry in a way that intensifies the spirit of the written words. He has published two cd's of Rumi's poems and one of Hafiz', among other original works.. We will again also feature students from the Poetry Out Loud Competition.
