Glorious

Jenkins was born in Pennsylvania in 1868 and left home because her father refused to allow her to fulfil her ambition to sing in public. Now, many might say that Mr. Jenkins had it completely right and the daughter had it wrong, but hose who we think are losers are often winners and vice-versa. sixty years after her death and afterher last performance at New Yorks Carnegie Hall, she has a show opening about her on Broadway. Glorious, by playwright Peter Quilter, is a play based on her colorful life, with six very eccentric people in it. Karma works in a strange way and in this case it worked in her favor. Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. Director: Loran Peterson. All tickets are $16.00 and all presale seats are reserved.

Beginner Raku Workshop with Carol McDonough

1:00 - 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 6th (clay - work day) 8:00 am - 5:00 pm on Sunday, May 13th (Raku firing day and Mothers Day) This is a great activity to do with a child or friend. The participant cost covers two clay pieces. A parent or guardian can bring a child and work together to make two pieces to fire for one fee, or each can make two pieces for two fees. On Sunday, May 6th, Carol will demonstrate using clay slabs to create a cylindrical vase and a footed bowl. Participants will then make two objects, either two vases, two bowls or one of each. At the end of class, participants will sign up for their preferred firing time to take place the following Sunday. On Sunday, May 13th, participants arrive at their assigned times and are encouraged to bring siblings, grandparents, dogs, marshmallows etc., in two. Raku is an exciting and engaging ceramic firing technique. when raku clay and glaze reaches a peak of heat and maturity in a specially designed kiln, the vessels are removed with long tongs and submerged in a combustible material. This action causes oxygen reduction which gives unique, one-of-a-kind, decorative surfaces to the clay forms. Participants should expect to spend about 2 hours glazing and firing their pieces. Aesthetic decisions are made, glaze is applied by dipping, brushing and or splashing. Fun will be had and after a fast firing in the Raku kiln with the help of each student - the most beautiful piece of art ever is fished out of the ashes.

All youve got to do is get on it,-- Pete Bernhard says. The guitarist / singer and his cohorts in the raw and raucous trio The Devil Makes Three have found their way onto that road numerous times since they first left their picaresque rural hometown of Brattleboro, Vermont. Back then, they had no idea it would lead them to such auspicious destinations as the Newport Folk and Austin City Limits Festivals, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and on tours with Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell and Trampled By Turtles. Along the way, they drew numerous accolades from a growing fan base and press alike. TDM3s travels and travails serve as inspiration for their fourth album and their New West Records debut, Im a Stranger Here, produced by Buddy Miller and recorded at Dan Auerbachs (Black Keys) Easy Eye Sound in Nashville.
