 15 Acre Pine Lake at Tar Hollow State Park |
Just a 5 minute drive from Big Maple Log Cabin gets you to a little gem of a park, Tar Hollow State Park and Tar Hollow State Forest. It’s a wonderful place to take the younger children to fish. There are 24 miles of hiking trails, 25 miles of bridle trails and a 2 ½ mile mountain bike trail that is quite popular. A section of Ohio’s Buckeye Trail passes through the park as well. The small general store at the park sells bait during the season and also offers a small miniature golf area. The 500 foot man-made beach area sits at one end of Pine Lake, where you can also rent paddle boats. Children of all ages also enjoy climbing to the top of the fire tower for a panoramic view of the park. Surrounding the park is Ohio’s third largest state forest, Tar Hollow State Forest, with over 16,000 acres. |
